Vulcan is just about an hour south of Calgary The town was named in 1915 after the roman god of fire, and the original streets were named after various roman deities. Somewhere along the way, somebody in the community made the Star Trek connection, and the local tourism board ran with it, in a big way.
Aside from the Trek themed tourism information building, the street signs are all Trek themed, the county admin building has trek themed signage, there is a Trek museum, and murals depicting Star Trek characters all over town. There is an annual Star Trek convention called Spock Days.
i have another post floating around but i am just really desperately in need of help. im literally getting scheduled 4 hours a week at my job now after losing my fulltime job due to sexual harassment from my boss. when i complained i was promptly fired. im extremely mentally ill, traumatized, taking care of myself and my partner and our cats. im trying to move out of an unhappy household and work on my recovery but recently this week my mom was admitted to the hospital with MRSA and i had to spend my savings on supplies for the house and taking care of my 11 yr old sibling. i have a phone bill to pay thats 100$, 200$ car payments and not to mention food and everything else. i really need help i just want to get better and be able to move out and every dollar ive gotten from donations has been amazing and gone to food and bills and having to take care of my mom drained what i had saved up. im working to get on medication and ive been going to therapy every week. i really just want to be stable. if i get this new job i will hopefully be getting a lot of hours but until then im kind of fucked. i really appreciate everyone supporting me please reblog this if u can. im considering making a separate gofundme to help me and my partner move out with my friend ennis in early april. it’s not healthy for me to live here and my therapist really thinks it would be beneficial and i just want to be free of this cycle of abuse in my life. if u can donate my paypal is :

Bespin was an immense gas giant located in the vicinity of the Anoat system, in a little-visited sector of the galaxy. During the Galactic Civil War, Bespin remained unaffiliated, but that did not prevent the Galactic Empire from garrisoning the planet and seizing Cloud City. However, with the Empire’s defeat at Endor, the gas giant and its prosperous mining colony ended up recovering their freedom.
